Payroll Tax Numbers

The most convenient way to obtain your Arizona Payroll tax account numbers is by completing online registration with both the Arizona Department of Revenue and the Department of Economic Security. This single online registration process registers you with both departments.

Upon processing your registration (which typically takes 2-3 weeks), you will receive your eight-digit (XXXXXXXX) Arizona Unemployment Tax Account Number.

If you've already registered, haven't received your Unemployment Tax Account Number, and it's been over one month since registration, please contact the Employer Registration Unit at (602)771-6602.

Your Arizona Withholding Account Number is identical to your nine-digit (XX-XXXXXXX) Federal Employment Identification Number (EIN); however, you must be registered with the State of Arizona Department of Revenue for your EIN to be linked to your Arizona account.

How to locate these numbers if you’re already registered:

• Your Arizona Withholding Account Number is identical to your nine-digit (XX-XXXXXXX) Federal Employment Identification Number (EIN). You must be registered with the State of Arizona Department of Revenue for your EIN to be linked to your Arizona account.
• If you have a history of filing state payroll tax returns, you can locate your Unemployment Tax Account Number on any previously submitted Unemployment Tax and Wage Report (UC-018). The Unemployment Tax Account Number follows an eight-digit format: XXXXXXXX.
