Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for payroll onboarding
I'm getting an error when trying to save an address.
- Make sure to include the apartment or suite number
- Confirm the ZIP code is accurate
- If you continue to experience an issue saving an address, feel free to reach out to us!
Why do I see a prompt to enter state tax information if the business only has 1099 contractors and no W-2 employees?
If you only have 1099 contractors, you will still see state tax information populate during onboarding.
- For withholding tax:
- Select 'No, I don't have it yet.'
- In the Filing Frequency dropdown, select the most frequent schedule
- For unemployment tax:
- Select 'No, I don't have it yet.'
- Enter a standard rate for the state (most states have a new employer rate)
Entering this information will allow an employer to continue with the onboarding steps. If a W-2 employee were to be hired in the future, we'd calculate taxes based on this information entered so please be sure to update it if necessary.
Can an employer who is not done registering their business with state tax agencies still complete onboarding?
Yes! In the state tax info card, an employer can select 'No, I don't have it yet.' Be sure to enter the state tax account number and other tax information once it has been received by the state tax agency. This will ensure accurate filings and payments.
How can I complete the company manual bank verification?
When an employer chooses manual bank verification instead of Plaid verification, a batch of microdeposits will be sent to the bank account within 1-2 business days. The employer will enter two unique payment amounts to verify the bank account.
Example: The employer received a deposit of $0.43 and $0.15 totaling $0.58 cent. The employer would enter $0.43 in one box and $0.15 in the other and NOT the total deposit of $0.58.
A worker's profile says that onboarding is not completed yet because contract overtime eligibility is missing. How can this be updated?
- In a worker's profile, select the Edit pencil on the Contracts card.
- Open the worker's contract and select the Edit pencil on their active contract.
- In the Overtime eligible dropdown, select Yes or No
- Select Save.
This should be the final step in completing a worker's profile!
